School-to-School International (STS) continues to build momentum through its Whole Child Model, advancing a holistic approach to education that supports not only academic outcomes but also the well-being of students, families, and communities.

Recent Numeracy Training in Tanzania

Just last weekend, STS completed a highly successful numeracy training with teachers and head teachers from our two WCM schools in Tanzania. This training focused on foundational numeracy instruction and ability grouping—strategies shown to improve learning outcomes when thoughtfully implemented. The training content built on materials developed under STS’s recent contract with RTI International, which served teachers in eight additional Tanzanian schools. Drawing from the lessons learned in that experience, the STS team refined the training to meet the specific needs of WCM schools, making the sessions both practical and responsive to the local context.

Looking ahead, STS plans to deliver a complementary literacy training to the same group of educators in the coming weeks. Like the numeracy sessions, this training will emphasize evidence-based, inclusive instructional practices aimed at boosting student achievement and confidence in the classroom.

Further down the line, STS is preparing for a broader community engagement effort. Plans are underway for a parent training program that will equip 70 parents, as well as teachers and community leaders, with strategies to support children’s learning at home. This initiative reflects a core tenet of the Whole Child Model: that learning doesn’t end at the school gate.

From targeted teacher development to upcoming family engagement, STS is committed to advancing whole child success. We look forward to continuing this important work in collaboration with the communities we serve.
