We have an announcement to make.
STS International is pleased to share that Asante Africa Foundation – Tanzania has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Whole Child Model Grant — a $20,000–$25,000 award supporting organizations working with schools in Arusha District, Tanzania to advance an integrated approach to education, health, and community engagement.

Asante Africa Foundation has been working in East Africa for years to support young people through programs that address the full arc of what students need to succeed — academic content, health knowledge, life skills, leadership development, and community connection. Their Wezesha Vijana Program is already reaching hundreds of students with school-based programming built around exactly those principles. This grant deepens that work.
Through the WCM Grant, Asante will bring the Whole Child Model to four public primary schools in Arusha District. They’ll train early-grade teachers in learner-centered literacy and numeracy instruction, establish school-based clubs offering health education, life skills, and academic support to upper-primary students, and organize regular parent engagement to strengthen the connections between school and home. It’s a program designed around a straightforward belief: that children thrive when education, health, and community support work together.
That belief is at the heart of everything STS does, and it’s why Asante stood out.
They know their context, they have established community trust, and they bring the kind of local knowledge and relationships that make education programs actually work. We don’t see this as STS delivering a model to a grantee — we see it as supporting locally led work that already reflects what good, holistic education looks like in practice.
This grant was funded entirely through private giving. To everyone who donated to make it possible: thank you. This is what your support makes real.
We’ll be sharing updates on Asante’s progress throughout the year. In the meantime, if you’d like to help sustain this work and future grants like it, we’d be grateful for your continued support: sts-international.org/donate
