Qualitative and Mixed-Method Research

By STS | STS Blog | 0 comment | 22 March, 2021 | 9

STS remains one of USAID’s largest providers of EGRAs and EGMAs. At the same time, recent work has allowed us to couple our student assessments with qualitative research services to understand the “whys” and “hows” of trends in education.

During the last few years, STS conducted mixed-methods evaluations and learning assessments across sub-Saharan Africa. Our methods include key informant interviews, focus group discussions, classroom and school observations, and KAP surveys, among others. Each of these tools allows us a greater understanding of the context that results from EGRAs, EGMAs, and formative assessments exist in. Furthermore, they provide valuable insights to our partners and the program implementers.
