CLA Finalists! ACR GCD’s Strengthens Efforts to Improve Language and Learning for Children with Disabilities

Last spring, USAID’s 2021 CLA Case Competition reviewed 80 qualifying case studies that explore ways USAID staff and partners use CLA approaches to achieve better development outcomes. This fall, they announced the winners and finalists.

STS is pleased to have led the CLA process for one of the competition’s finalists: CLA Strengthens Efforts to Improve Language and Learning for Children with Disabilities

Submitted by Brittany Anderson and Shelly Malecki, the honored case study explores how All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development shifted from supporting innovations at the proof-of-concept stage to transitioning mature, evidence-based solutions to scale.

“The Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) approach provided the structure that was missing, embedding learning in the awards life-cycle and ensuring ACR partners and awardees had regular opportunities to share knowledge and experiences and then adapt their designs or implementation approaches based on ongoing learning or changing circumstances.”

STS is proud to work with ACR GCD providing the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) services that ensure ACR GCD advances EdTech innovation and research—including developing the CLA framework and conducting the CLA sessions that the project uses. Read more about our collaboration with ACR GCD’s partners on the CLA approach.
