Niger Education and Community Strengthening

wherewework_niger

The Niger Education and Community Strengthening Plus (NECS+) project—funded by USAID and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC)—aims to improve learning opportunities in Niger by strengthening community involvement in education, improving the educational environment for girls and boys, and enhancing literacy instruction for students and adults. This project will be implemented by Plan International USA in 160 schools.

STS developed grade 2 literacy curriculum materials in five languages including four local languages, produced a set of leveled and decodable readers, developed other supplementary materials, created continuous assessment activities, and provided training to inspectors and pedagogical advisors on these materials. STS also supported the planning and implementation of an Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) to measure student learning outcomes.
