The Early Grade Education Activity, “Asas” is a five-year project, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to advance national efforts to strengthen the caliber of pre- and in-service teacher education and improve Kindergarten through grade three (KG-G3) foundational and socio-emotional (SEL) skills across the Kingdom of Jordan. Collaborating closely with partners in the Government of Jordan, Asas seeks to strengthen the early grade education system by improving the quality of pre-service teacher education and in-service teacher professional development, enhancing early grade curriculum and teaching and learning materials (TLM), building community engagement, and supporting evidence-based systems and policies that promote system-wide alignment and maximize return on investment (ROI).
STS will review, enhance, and ensure alignment of the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) system for assessing KG-G3 students and teachers, as well as building the MoE’s capacity to conduct high-quality assessments and make effective use of the results to strengthen teacher professional development and student learning.
