The Accelerated Quality Education for Liberian Children (AQE) is an USAID-funded activity aimed at increasing access to education for approximately 48,000 out-of-school children aged 8 to 15 in six target counties by assisting the Liberian Ministry of Education. The project’s activities are specifically designed to provide relevant, flexible, and quality education opportunities to children, giving them the opportunity to pursue education or training. The activity aims to strengthen the policies, systems, and resources that are available to the ministry, particularly in the area of accelerated education.
STS, in collaboration with the Education Development Center (EDC) and the AQE team, will develop language arts and mathematics placement and summative assessments for the accelerated learning program. The assessments will aim to place students into the most appropriate leveled AQE class at the beginning of the school year. The summative assessments will promote students within the AQE classes, and if appropriate, it will help eligible students re-integrate into the formal school system upon completion of the AQE school year. In addition to the leveled assessments, STS will develop training materials to support accurate and reliable implementation and scoring of the assessments.
