Using Technology to Improve Primary Grade Reading in Afghanistan

wherewework_tafafghanistan

The Asia Foundation (TAF) in Afghanistan implemented the Using Technology to Improve Primary Grade Reading in Afghanistan project in Kandahar and Nangarhar provinces. The project, funded through All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development, aimed to improve the literacy outcomes of Grade 3 students through trainings and the introduction of interactive literacy lessons accessible on phones or high definition televisions (HDTV).

School-to-School International (STS) provided technical assistance to TAF’s monitoring and evaluation (M&E) team, who conducted early grade reading assessments (EGRA) in Dari and Pashto in collaboration with the Afghanistan Ministry of Education. Specifically, STS built the capacity of the TAF team to collect, analyze, and interpret EGRA data; and to write effective evaluation reports
