Peter J. Laston is an experienced social scientist serving as a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Coordinator for the USAID Strengthening Teacher Education and Practice Activity (STEP) in Malawi.
In his career as an M&E specialist, Laston has worked with various Institutions like Palladium Group-Health Policy Plus Malawi, National Dong Hwa University, Balaka District Council, National Registration Bureau, and Nkhadze Alive Youth Organization (NAYORG). He has produced various products like Malawi Youth Friendly Health Services and Family Planning Bulletins, project management databases and conducted project evaluation studies which have informed programmatic interventions. He has also contributed to the development of Malawi’s first Performance Based Financing (PBF) Manual among other documents.
He holds a master’s in economics with distinction from National Dong Hwa University in Taiwan, a bachelor’s of social sciences, and a certificate in population project planning, management, monitoring and evaluation from the University of Malawi-Chancellor College.
