Kristina Solum heads STS’ literacy and learning department.
Solum has nearly 20 years of experience in the field of international development education specializing in early grade reading and teacher professional development. She has developed literacy instructional materials, designed teacher training models, and lead the adaptation of early grade reading assessments (EGRAs) in over 15 countries. She has a special interest in adapting language and reading assessments for students with disabilities and has adapted EGRAs for students who are blind or have low-vision and students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Solum holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Whitworth University and a Master of Arts in intercultural studies and TESOL from Wheaton College. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in international education at George Mason University with a focus on early grade reading gains achieved through teacher professional development.
