Chisomo Emma Nayeja is the Finance Director for the USAID Strengthening Teacher Education and Practice (STEP) Activity in Malawi. She is responsible for overseeing the administration, procurement, financial management, financial compliance, and financial reporting of the project.
Nayeja has experience in financial management, financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, auditing and taxation in donor-funded projects. Before joining School-to-School, she worked for the Shire River Basin Management Project and the Investing for Early Years Project as a financial management specialist. In these projects, she implemented and managed the accounting systems. She has developed requirements reflecting internationally recognized good accounting practices, and customized a newly acquired accounting package to enable transaction processing and production of reports. She is also a trustee of Operation Smile which provides free cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries to hundreds of patients in need.
Nayeja is a chartered certified accountant and is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). She holds an MBA and has a BSc in applied accounting.
