Allison Born combines her mathematical skill and international development interests to pursue a career in monitoring and evaluation.
Moving and traveling while growing up ignited Born’s interest in global issues. Through the Peace Corps, she spent two years teaching English and methodology at a teacher’s college in Ethiopia. Prior to joining STS, Born dove into research interests surrounding mathematics assessments, teacher incentives, and women’s empowerment. She conducted a mixed-methods research study on girls’ education in the West Nile Region of Uganda with the Aga Khan Foundation. Born also spent three years as a researcher on international education projects for Florida State University’s Learning Systems Institute.
Born earned her Bachelor of Science in actuarial mathematics from the University of Michigan and her Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
