Building Global Citizens

Dear Friends of STS,

School-to-School International’s Pen Pal Program connects hundreds of students every year in the United States and Canada with students in our partner schools in Guinea.

The Pen Pal Program helps kids become Global Citizens by putting them in direct contact with someone on the other side of the world. Through their letters and drawings, students learn about other cultures and reflect on their own experiences by sharing their cultural traditions.

The Pen Pal Program also empowers students to make a difference in the world. In the past, students from our American partner schools have raised funds to assemble first aid kits and build wells and latrines for schools in Guinea. With access to medicine, clean water, and proper facilities, many children in Guinea have a greater opportunity to stay in school.

Henry, a student from Oregon who participated in the Pen Pal Program, said:

“I was excited to learn about the different cultures in Guinea and the different personalities of the kids. I think that this program was really helpful and important because both our culture and their culture get to have this knowledge of what it’s like here in [the USA] and in Guinea. My favorite part of this, and a humbling part, was giving water and a first aid kit because that just made me feel really happy and helpful.”

Go ahead, give the gift of Global Citizenship today.
